Steve Collar Promoted to Commercial Manager – Ferrous Materials

One of the UK’s leading providers of waste management & recycling services LKM Recycling in Sittingbourne is pleased to announce Steve Collars promotion to Commercial Manager as part of their growth drive & recent investments.

Steve has worked tirelessly for LKM Recycling for over 20 years having started at the bottom sweeping the yard, through to delivering the £2m Lefort shear investment that was completed in January.

His inspirational story in today’s graduate filled senior management era is captivating: he started left school at 16, worked for 2 years in the yard as a general operative & within 2 years proved himself suitable to become the yard foreman. Here he learnt the business from the bottom up learning about managing people effectively/ ferrous/ nonferrous/ contracts/ logistics/ shearing/ cranes & most importantly quality of output. He was swiftly promoted to operations manager as a result.

4 years ago, Steve was rewarded with a 50:50 yard: office position where he proved himself in terms of selling metals for container, export & domestic customer sales. He has also proved himself as a very capable project manager having overseen the building of their Untha Shredder, the waste transfer facility & the jewel in the crown being the Lefort Shear installation – over a year in planning.
