One of the UK’s leading providers of waste management & recycling services LKM Recycling in Sittingbourne, Kent has invested in a new shear from Lefort in Belgium to replace the smaller, aging original Lefort machine. For those new to recycling plant, a shear is a machine for cutting up & baling metals for sale to metal foundries for recycling into new items.
The old machine will be refitted so that it can be resold once again demonstrating that the recycling/ reuse instinct is used in every part of the recycling process! The new machine, the Lefort Amazone 1250 is a beast & is many times larger & more impressive being able to exert 1250 tonnes of pressure onto metals with the capability of being able to bale a bus whole. This delivers a much greater throughput of 500T of material per day, meaning a more efficient machine that cuts metals into high quality pieces ready for customers furnaces.
Commenting, Ryan Eastwood Managing Director of LKM Recycling said, “This is the largest investment of the last 18 months costing over £2m to install. It means increased capacity & efficiency, which also delivers a high-quality product for foundries from across the globe to use for new items such as construction beams & vehicles.”
